I'd Rather Scorn You

I'd rather scorn you, when it's just
Than tolerate your cold mistrust
But love has claws that keep me reined
So any wrath is merely feigned
My firm intent to spite your deeds
Is cancelled by archaic needs
To drink your beauty, guile and charm
That vehement angriness disarm
Each time I pledge to wound your heart
I feel the pain of Cupid's dart
To know again your mastery
Of casually seducing me

I like this one. It's articulate, but unpretentious. Good meter as well, although "vehement" jars slightly. Would it be presumptuous of me to suggest abbreviating to "veh'ment"?
