A verse based on unorthodox thinking
about permanent relationships. Just for
the record it is merely an imagined scenario.
Look forward to thoughts on this......
Menage a' trois stands identified
as three in a household,
existing
in acceptance of need,
and finalised
as closer relationships.
Expected resistance
will not nullify patterns,
as love-lines,
woven between duty and soulmate,
fired
around same hearth and heart,
slowly refined,
and scribed into everyday life,
desired by the three,
can make menage a' trois work
sometimes,
and when it does
it has been known to
change minds.
Multiple marriages are nothing new. It was done in the past for the survival-rate of the offspring. The mortality rate related to environmental factors. In some places it took a two men to produce enough food to allow a child to survive. Hence a woman married 2 brothers. In other places the death rate of infant mortality was so high, more than one child was needed to have one survive. Hence a man married more than one wife and had several children to have one survive. But out of love: that's quite another story. Fickle is fickle and fickle does what fickle wants. Many are willing to promise one thing and do another. Deceit is always a mistake and will have its consequences. For myself. One woman is plenty to deal with physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Without any greater need why should I want more than I need. Thank goodness she feels the same. A poet friend//RH Peat.
