Dante's Dream - by J.N. Paton 1821-1901

Dante's Dream by Real Distan

Unattainable

He was a romantic
And became obsessed.
The young girl Beatrice he loved the best.

Though they shared no token
His sentiment grew.
She inspired his painting and poetry too.

She, a perfect ideal
Enshrined in his heart
Dante, when she died, never felt parted.

There is longing within
And found with us all
Unattainable dreams still hold us in thrall.

Impressed, good write, with the classical edge you took love to another level and this is the aspect that makes me tick the 'like' tab. (Always a sucker for the ancients.)

Indeed such a dream only leads us in life against monotony or frustration!

How well one recognizes these powerful sentiments where attachments seem stronger than death and defy all odds to remain... Great write revealing the somewhat irrational 'longing within...'

a Divine poem indeed, Fay...and the material is so magically transported to convey that longing universally held by all..

So true are your words in the final stanza! Another fine piece from you.
