sleep by Eva M. Y. S.

Naked

You dressed me
in devotion
draped me in the silk
of soft seduction
You wrapped me up
in passion
swathed my soul
in sighs of adoration

Yet that veil
of love I’d worn
was woven with fine threads
of pure delusion
Now tattered
stained and torn
the pledge that you had sworn
just lust’s illusion.

A well written piece of mature and seasoned words that thread together the imagery needed to complete it. I love this phrase: "soft seduction" bravo!!!!!!! peace and light, dah

I've come late to discover this precious poem. It speaks of universal delusions and disillusions experienced at one time or another by all who dare to "look". The last line raises this piece from a "somebody did somebody wrong" song to a bitter-sweet shared experience that may help both parties avoid similar pitfalls in the future. Beautifully written.

A wonderfully adept use of extended metaphor.

Very well-crafted poem. The imagery and rhymes in the first part enhance the music of passion and adoration. The second stanza utilizes fewer rhymes, which help the development of its antithetical theme--a perfect and unexpected closure to an excellent write! Beautiful jewel! Thanks for sharing!

Tis a shame so many mistake lust for true love. This is a well written piece that many should read.

How true, and how beautifully expressed. Lust and fantasy will carry even the best of us to places we would better not go, under the guise of Love.
