Elmwood Wings.

Rising from what appears petrified stone
Stands the elmwood Shag, sea-bird.
Head errect, bright-eyed and wings tightly rolled,
Sleek with much oiling, prepared
To a smoothness with masterful honing.
It will grace any home, care
And artistic handling sculpted fine-boned
Structures, feathery wings, rare
Hooded head, feet webbed to completion thrown
Over elm boulder, toes pared
To perfection, such finely tooled cloning
Of the real might soon be heard
Shaking elmwood wings for flight, and dethroned,
Magically rise skyward, stirring
Dreams of this phoenix bird have already flown.

This is as flowing a poem as any carving, with wonderful attention to the tiniest detail. A joy of a write to read and absorb like the oil on the feathers of this finely penned Phoeonix. Kath xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
