War Like This.

Walking the glade tonight nature first appears right
yet it is not, when mounds of grass convert to browns
too soon, and down by the stream soundless butterflies
seem silently caught in shrouds of grey fertilised clouds
of pollution, breed no more but lie there in dirty gutters.
War like this against earth's vale of favour brings claims
of sheer neglect which sees no further than dying bees
and will not question why, from earth they get no reply.
A few years hence no wishing will recompense for this
for from foolhardiness gross greed creates a fatal mess.
Seeing tonight this suffering glade makes me afraid.

Walt Kelly of Pogo fame, offered his version on an Earth Day poster, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

We are pushing boundaries way beyond the limit - it is scary and your words spell out the danger of being blind to what is happening.

Fabulous writing Fay. We are reaping what we sow. We are living in an age when we are actually witnessing some of the things - especially in the natural world - outlined in the Book of Revelations. Who says the Bible isn't true? Only those who have never taken the time to study it is the answer. For those of us who cannot stop these things from happening, let us make sure we do not contribute to them. Thank you Fay.

What i like to call "Wrap-a-'roud: prose or free-verse is very well on display here,Fay.The tone you set is furnished with fine, pictorial depiction, yet, as i read it through my minds-eye, the information you so subtley place inbetween this replendency is erudite & informational as well as entertaining to this Reader.
