This was inspired by a poem I recently read "can't remember if it was on this site ? let me know if you recognise the storyline please !!"

Snapshot. (Quatrain)

Moments frozen in time,
Of many a thing long gone,
Way back, myself in my prime,
Old family to which I belong.

First shoes, car and house,
At school with children forgotten,
Girlfriend's, friends,and my spouse,
Holidays, and bike rides to Potten.

My children from baby to teen,
History of pets loved then passed,
Snippets from fabulous scenes,
Reminders of things that don't last.

Now I just have three jars of ash,
A snapshot of a smoking shell,
A heart with an unfixable gash,
And limited memories and stories to tell.

Nicely done. Your quatrain is so much more interesting and readable than the ones by Nostradamus... do you do prophecies?

The gift of memories can be a wonderful thing...they help us to weave the words we write in poems and the stories we tell...I Love the quiet passion of this lovely poem. Dorothy A Poet Who Loves to Sing

The way you have the reader pause at the end of each line and the end rhymes and short line lengths (trimeter) usually does not work in poems about serious subjects, lending itself most often to humorous or children's verse. But due to your masterful words and images, it works extremely well in this poem.
