Married to a Piranha

He is
But a
Deceitful
Piranha……
Dressed in
A Dolphin’s
Tuxedo, closing
On his newly
Wedded
Prey

Oozing
Venom with
His Charismatic
Smiles and
Poisonous
Wiles, raping
Her untainted
Heart and milky
Bosom with
his tainted
Fangs

Her
Wedding
Eve turned
To a bloodbath
Of grief, as
She lay helpless
In bed, naked
soaked with Bloody
Leeches, Her
Unstained
Wedding Gown
Disdained
And molested
With his
Deceitful
Limbs

She
Lays
Begging
And praying
To the maker,
Gazing at stars
With her frozen
Eyes glued to
The bluish Heavens,
As if to feel
The Fragrance Of
A flowery Divorce
Certificate will
Kiss her
molested
Feet…

this is the subtle truth... almost every marriage in the world face this same reality. almost all arranged marriages are mere rapes. marriage life starting from a rape!

You have written a strong narrative of abuse with vivid metaphors. How any man can abuse his wife is something I find very hard to understand. Well done Shan.

This had me gripped from the fantastic; 'He is But a Deceitful Piranha…… Dressed in A Dolphin’s Tuxedo' until the wonderful closing lines. A triumph of a poem, Shan :)

What a powerful and accomplished portrait of (a loveless) marriage as seen through the eyes of the woman in such a loveless arrangement... And the imagery is so dynamic as some of your readers have pointed out and the language fluent and flowing....A strong poem. I've bookmarked this.

The short sentences accentuate the fast pace of this poem - delivered at high intensity and with an extravagance that would make Edgar Allan Poe stretch his eyes. Your tuxedoed piranha has all the terrifying viciousness of a Grand Guignol villain and I can almost hear the audience 'booing' as the helpless maiden is ravished and abandoned - bloodstained and broken. I like your 'bluish Heavens and 'flowery Divorce Certificate' too. Excellent poem. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

As usual Shash your writing is brilliant using imagery that others may not dare to use. I like the way the poem reads down the page, so the reader's eyes rest on the words and take in the power of this poem more slowly than they otherwise would. As Fay says it is a disturbing poem and I agree as it violates a woman's freedom and expectations of what a marriage should be. Her wedding eve is one hell of a nightmare as the Piranha groom turns her night into a disaster. Lets hope her maker rescues her and hey! wouldn't this make a great sequel for this poem. For something positive to come out of something so negative. You could be the Knight in Shining Armor. Excellent writing Shash!

hmmm.. it seems about rape of something of the sort. The air in this poem is fitting for the meaning it holds.

a sad picture of a marriage doomed from the start....surely sex without love is tantamount to rape..

There are those whose arrogance is violent. Domestic betrayal and abuse is among the most heinous.

A vivid portrait of the Piranha-type groom desiccating his untainted new wife - - this is a thoughtful and heartfelt outcry against usage of female position in many arrangements and thank you for versing this disturbing subject Shan.
