Just day-dreaming on another scene,
perhaps somewhere over the Rainbow.
Terrified, Dorothy ran from the Wizard,
his voice boomed her doom,
and his speech
caused ever more disorder.
When he hissed
as he whispered her name,
she screeched
and ran,
taking her whimpering dog.
The yellow brick road wound
unendingly
round at a frightening height.
Dorothy stopped
in mid-flight,
and reminded herself that the sound
he had made
at the end of his shouting was
just like
a strangled sob.
This all-barking hound of a Wizard
had,she decided,
no teeth
and she smiled, turning back.
She would rob
his ferocity by hugging him hard,
and breach
his resistance to love.
Only then would she see
the end
of her own shining rainbow,
and somewhere,
over the hill of her doubting and fear
bluebirds could appear,
to set her heart flying
and free.
love opens the door in a new light and helps one conquer the limitations that have held us back so far ....and then the bluebirds and the rainbows sing the song of eternity to the musical mind ...good one .
