A man at the end of his rope who foolishly believes he has nothing to live for anymore. In my conversations over the years, I have found that a few people feel that death is the only answer to the pain that they feel... when in my humble opinion... life and giving back to this glorious world we live in is the real answer. In any event, this poor, lost soul has made his choice.

On the Edge

my love matters not…
you have chosen another
leaving me fraught…
on my own to discover.

lingering with hope…
and a soul that aches
desperate to cope…
as my poor heart breaks.

the balcony beckons…
the railing restrains
in just a few seconds…
they’ll discover my remains.

out on the edge…
walking the rail
no more will I hedge…
no more will I fail.

the wind at my face…
my teetering stance
I shall sail with grace…
in my definitive dance.

So very sad when a person feels that all hope has gone. Your lovely words gives the reader a feel of the desperation felt by that person. Very sad but lovely write...... Pat

I can feel you're hurting inside...There is despair in every line yet the construction is really fun to read. This is an admirable piece...I love the construction and the flow. I hope you'll find true happiness soon.. God bless you!!!! -Pink Butterfly-

I totally concur with whith what you have written and there are so many more suicides than we are lead to believe. My sister works at a newspaper and this is how I know. Excellent poem Gerald written with empathy and straight from your heart!

So real I was there with "the wind at my face" - the saddest of endings for so many today Jerry - - insightful verse.
