Just dreaming..........

Late Afternoon Sun by Ontario Wanderer

Feeling High

When dancing summer stays long,
leafy greens
On afternoon trees delight in mellow,
And turn shy roundelays to feel
late breezes
Stroking farewell to each leaf-face,
yellowed
By exiting sun.

Then I too, dusk-drugged,
And feeling high on June-induced,
sun-soaked
Opiates, rise and vacate the scene,
hugging
The calm closely.

Light tucks tighter night's cloak,
And day hushes
then pales
To give way as sky's
Placid surrender to dark
begins soon.

Hustled out of place, sun fades,
and wide-eyed
I make my peaceful way home
with a moon
Which now awake, reigns sublime
and relate
In grateful rhyme
this elation to a soul-mate.

Images to die for Fay and as usual you caress this poem with your outstanding adoration of nature and beauty all around you. I love 'and turn shy roundelays to feel late breezes' and 'dusk-drugged and feeling high on June-induced sun- soaked opiates'. How I wish the drug addicted people would get their act together, and use Fay Slimm's stunning poetry to get high!
