A Rainbow Over Maroubra

I watched out of the hospital window,
a kid in a pink rain coat dash in out of the rain.
I looked across at Pop, he's been still for days,
he wouldn't dash inside, he'd dance in that rain.

I think waiting and hoping is the worst, don't you?
I look at Granma and see she has got old.
I remember when we used to play music together,
and had to tell Pop not to sing, but he sang anyway!

I watched out the hospital window again.
the clouds were not as black as before,
out to the East I saw a rainbow over Maroubra,
and Granma said "Thank God you're awake."

Pumpkin.. I've been reading a few of yours and I wonder if you'd be like a wee (Allie Cassidy)... you write your matters well... and down at the Bra... your Pop would be right.. for not dashing inside but dancing in that rain... a bow of multi-colours you have outpured here...

This is a very special poem, Chrissy, and I know your Pop will love it, especially the huge splash of Nature's magnificence in the rainbows. Still rooting for all of you, and sending a heart full of rainbows from my English garden. :)

This is the very best way to say any thank-you 's dear Chrissy because now we can see the relief you must all be feeling and please give your Pop a very big hug when you can and say it's from Fay - - in faraway Cornwall U.K. - and of course one for your Granma as well...... thanks Pumpkin for filling us in with this news of Paddy's improvement. May the rainbow stay with you over Maroubra......
