Media Thirst.

The last strands of writers genuine voice
May soon be silenced, drowned out, devoured
By media-thirst, as more boisterous
Advertisment babble grows, overflows
And spews daily spoon-fed, newsy advice
On how to get rich, uses cold comfort
Of imagined needs, levers with precise
Instructions for having more, dumbfounding
Eyes and innocent minds, new science grinds
Out sermonising wads of facts, dosing
Attendant readers with unreal choices, behind
Each line media guile baits, while blind trust grows
Grey hairs in waiting for common-sense to show.

It would seem that there's a vested interest in keeping the mass populace confused and distracted from the matters of importance. Well penned with engaging language!

yes you are absolutely bang on here ..blinding lights have blinded beyond sight and the dreams in glamour have replaced the common sense ....commercial is the way to go ....for young minds till they realise its too late to stich the wounds that times have inflicted ...

You are right dear FAY ! The youth today requires better role models to come their way ! With Banks offering a variety of tempting loans these days , have transformed the complete outlook of our society toady ! And as you say, grey- haired maturity will grow only with time ! Thanks ! -Raj

It's a thirst owned by the masses, unfortunately. Let's hope those who know keep on being different and parents take on a more active role.

The manipulation of media spin and its sorry consequences are tackled superbly here, Fay...and I agree with every sagacious, well crafted line. :)
