In Search Of God

I looked for God in holy places
I looked for him in busy streets
I searched each day at work and play
Where e'er I searched he wasn't there.
Oh where is God? Oh where, oh where?

I searched for him through hill and valley
Through mountains, deserts, sea to sea
Looked thrugh forests, fields and farmland
I searched and searched, he wasn't there.
Where are you God? Please tell me, where?

I looked for him in far off places
I search by land by air and sea
Search the faces of the races
I could not find him anywhere
Oh where is God? I know not where.

I grew weary from my searching
And fell upon my knees in prayer
Ah, at last my search was over
Yes, I found God inside my heart
And now I see him everywhere.

The great yogis always say 'seek within'. Seems like that's exactly what you've been doing. Spiritual truth penned without bullshit. Lovely poem. Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Reminds me of the beloved, & anonymous write: "Footprints In The Sand"...However that is not to say that this piece is not original or brimming with God-Kissed eloquence...Because indeed it is,Ron.The work flows with smooth, crisp sstructural movement, and the theme, though a popular one...has its own punch of innovative qualityas so displayed in your closing stanza...Kudo's on a fine Penning !\\\FjR///

lovely... indeed it can be elusive until we look deep inside and then we can at last connect... well written

This is delightful! No need to search for Him, for he is always with us! And, if we wanted a more distant view, a gaze at a pristine sunset, or at the innocence of a child asleep gives a powerful glimpse of his handiwork.. A most deserving and enjoyable poem! Thanks for sharing

that was a walk ...we all take...seems I question him the most in troubled times and that be ALL the time for me...and I forget to just come to him in prayer to find some solace there
