Love's Maturation

'Tis said that love with dogged venture wanes
Though I am wont to challenge such deceit
Enchant in passing years a lustre gains
Until spring's rousing terminates replete
A nascent admiration born of youth
More potent with the hourglass becomes
As spring assumes fond summer's soothing truth
And love's domain with dulcet music hums
Think not of love as dying on the vine
Nor withering in summer's jading wake
But fruit that forethought transmutes into wine
As proof that God in generous bidding spake

"Think not of love as dying on the vine Nor withering in summer's jading wake But fruit that forethought transmutes into wine As proof that God in generous bidding spake" I bookmark this one...your closing lines are the icing on the cake...great piece Philip

Ah, Philip, I swear tis a touch of Billy Spokeshave here and in what a grand way you've written it. I love it, especially: 'But fruit that forethought transmutes into wine'. That line alone is worthy of the Master and I'm sick as a parrot that I didn't think of it myself! This is a seriously well-written, wonderful piece. Regards, Ray
