I'm trying to work up the courage to say this to him... fingers crossed I get enough soon!

Harsh but true

Move on.

It's what I'm trying to do

Can't you see that?

Would it be all right

If I just closed this door?

I won't lock it,

Or throw away the key

But I just need this.

I need to be far.

So very far away,

From you and everything

You bring with you.

Yes, it is a complete one-eighty

But I don't think you understand

Just how awful the pain

I went through was

And no, it wasn't worth it.

But the thing I'm unsure of is whether or not I will be once I say it to him............. :(

Can bleak and sparse be used in a complimentary sense? I hope so. Even the extra spacing between the lines adds to the effect and was a great decision. The last four lines are wrenching.
