~Even the Stones Rock

.
She stopped to smell the
subtle Carolina moonlight
which falls easy--

on the velvet petals
one last time.

The other roses
extended and
were ascending the trellis
to get their
nightly kiss of milky moonlight.

She breathed deep and exhaled life.
Life so abundant.

The scent of Carolina pine
sailed on the evening breeze like a song.

She hummed along.
Even the stone here seemed to teem with life.

She envisioned Heaven
to be just like this.

An angel put her hand
on her shoulder and whispered,"Welcome home,
my fair lady..."
