Why Do Eyes Still Invisibly Follow

Why do eyes still invisibly follow
In the shadows we never can go
The woods to your house are too far
For my life catching up is too slow

And why does my heart never listen
As I tell it again those old tales
How I found once, but never could keep you
All the things we must still only spell

If I said all the things I keep hidden
Inside me, the oceans would flood
The sky would fill up with strange birds
The roads become quagmires of mud

The mountains would fall on the valleys
The clouds would all smother the sun
And the rain, and the ice, and the snow,
All mix: the ordered world come undone.

I just love this, Patti, from start to finish. It's something special.
