Third verse in the series called Lady Elizabeth's Fate.

A Horse With No Name by Mimi Ditchie

Elizabeth's Absconding.

Her father, a wealthy
............................ and self-made man
Wished her betrothal
......................to one who now owned
Half of the County,
.............................. but she had a plan.

She betook herself
....................... and her jewels, loaned
A fine steed, and rode
....................... rightway, seven miles.

That fateful night,
....................... in her lover's quarters
She dressed herself
....................... in the garb of hireling.
Posed then as serving-wench
.......................... this Lord's daughter,

In abject poverty,
........................... could she now prove
She would not value
...................................finery over love?

Waiting for the fine second episode?

I like to see stories in poetry form, episode that can be read over and again. That's one of the great things about poetry. And love, over finery. Nice verse.
