Softest sounds ever heard were her lullabies.
She would gently comb low notes into finespun
Waves of mesmeric melody,
make sighing
Ripples in cooing tones,
hummed cunningly
No child could compete with Sadie's sweet songs.
They hypnotized the strongest will and pacified
The loudest cries with tender tunes,
before long
Breathing calmed by soft crooning,
abiding
Hush invaded the room,
comforting baby
And lulled to sleep any distress,
guaranteed
To work deeply,
this magic known to Sadie
Made her lullaby spells sure to succeed.
If we too catch the whisper of water
Brought by small breeze,
or hear leaves lilting
As morning greets sunlight,
we might be taught
Like Sadie,
how to sing lullabies right.
What lovely peaceful feelings this beautiful poem evokes Fay... great writing as usual.
