Within A Tear

It has never meant much to me before
But as I grow older I notice more
Like what is within a solitary tear
Could it be all the sorrows of yesteryear?

It holds the pain of a weeping heart
It holds the misery of a loved ones depart
It holds the feeling of a worst fear
Is all this within a solitary tear?

The ache of frustration of not achieving goals
The hurt of recognizing ignorant lost souls
The resentment of choices made that were wrong
The stress of listening to that old sad song

The acknowledgment of being defeated
The anguish of being mistreated
The sadness of empathy towards others
The anxiety of children missing their mothers

All this I can see within a solitary tear
Sadness, anguish, frustration and fear
Such a tiny drop to hold so much inside
Such a tiny space for these feelings to hide

There is much variety in the shadding of a tear. Amazingly, it also encompasses tears of joy.
