What messages does water hold I wonder.

Stream at River Walk at Sunset - HDR by Herb Dunn (YosemiteJunkie)

A Watery Secret.

Watery messenger of past love-hates,
rivering subtly,
each potentised remnant
of thousands before.

Stored, they are waiting,
unseen,
for us to catch sound of laments.
or of happiness states,
minutely floating.

Deep-level listeners hear musical notes
of lives long gone,
their chromosome cries,
though shaken,
pressed down,
liquidised, still call out, and
need to be heard.

Passing birds glance, tilt a discerning eye
as though aware,
Kingfisher stares, pauses momentarily
and lowers his head
to bring from the depth
something he felt.

The furrier travellers,busily speeding
for food, halt
to hear this silent melody.
Stoat, Vole
along with Otter detect
in the watery breath,
snatches of
some passing symphony.

Why then can't we turn an ear,
listen carefully
to rivers,
streaming the smiles
and past sighs
of yester-year folk,
pick up their
message and learn if we dare ?.

Gorgeous work. Makes me wonder if the flowing water is a metaphor for time itself.

If we dare? Yes! The awakening is sometimes lost in the overwhelming need to get something else done or finished by the deadline. So the obvious spiritual-flash is sometimes overlooked. You say: take the time to look. Awaken, to the divine stream. Yes we should. Nice poem Fay. A poet friend.

What a treasure, I love the idea here, that water is a mystery only barely understood even now, the mystical experience of water, water as a cleansing salvation, water as an alchemical process- better stop now before another poem is birthed right here. You rock, Fay!

A mystical, melodic masterpiece alive with nature's whisperings. I particularly like: 'Streaming the smiles and past sighs of yester-year folk,' Memorable poem. Love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

rushing , gushing to be free, from the mountains to the sea, through nooks and vales, the waters course, chiseling pathways from its source.

The mysterious and curious language of a babbling brook is captured perfectly in the melodic flow of this beautiful poem - I love the 'chromosome cries' in this 'passing symphony' - wonderful! :)

This is an intriguing piece Fay, it flows like the rivers and streams you speak of. The thought of the water holding secrets of past seems like a reality as you pen it.

The timeless rivers and streams have stories and secrets to tell. After all many have ran their course for centuries. There is something quite mysical and satisfying about relaxing by the river and taking in all its sights and sounds. I can think of nothing more pleasant than reading your poetry in such an environment. Beautiful poem and lovely imagery Fay. Regards. Steve
