Cottage at Evening by Steve Slimm

Questions of Love

Went your day well?
Did the bluebird I sent land on your shoulder
and flutter my love-filled
wishes to you for a colourful bouquet
of successful schemes?

Went your sleep well?
Were your nightime dreams lit with the stardust
I ordered, and did my love warm
every corner of your caring
heart until dawn?

Went your work well?
Did the sunbeams I sent for appear, did they play
gently around your labour to persuade
daytime to lighten your workday load
with heightened moments?

Went your evening well?
Did you miss gray morning showers I parceled
up tightly from early skies that by eventide
only fine sunset remained to send
rainbowing arcs of inviting fire
to ignite our love ?

Went your day well?

How could it not? Your lovely verse has brightened and colored it beautifully! And I had some interesting dreams, as well - perhaps influenced by this superb poem!
