Barn Owl by amkhosla

White Spectre Flying

The forest was dim.
And dusk had set in
Unobtrusively.

A clearing appeared
Dogs' barking was weird
Unexpectedly.

Made him veer instead.
Old barns lay ahead
Unsurprisingly.

He stopped in his track
And whistled dogs back
Unsuspectingly.

But to his delight
Barn-owl took to flight
Unintentionally.

White spectre in dusk
Ghostly wings athrust
Unrestrainedly.

A blood curdling shriek
Came strident from beak
Undeniably.

Dogs took to their heels
He, vowing with zeal
Unpretentiously.

To return and mark
In daylight, not dark
Underhandedly.

Sans dogs, this same plot.
Soon nestlings he'd spot
Unmistakably.

There is brilliance in the crafting of this poem and I even think it could take a form of a Fay Slimm poem for other's to write. Our dancing teacher is now forming her own dances for others to enjoy too! You have used nature as your theme and an utter delight for me.

Tight, crisp lionage, and a very captive theme elevates this fairly simple work to high level quality ! You never disappoint, lass ! FjR
