Goodbye my lover statue by ~Haani~

A Gentle Goodbye.

Is there a gentle way to break a heart ?

To create much goodbye grief will make days
turn into raging battlegrounds, create parts
of each waking moment which need stabling
And does not bespeak gentleness.

The ungentle marks left on hearts once broken
despise letting down hard, adding to pain
they cause tears to drown out feeble tokens,
Which never bespeak gentleness.

Given as strength fails, this brings a restraint
to most hearts, which bleedingly raw, still sorely
want tender handling, this being understood
Bespeaks needing gentleness.

So he said goodbye, though not as before,
and promised to contact her when he could,
such tender farewells cost nothing to love,
without them the leaver, never approved,
Cannot expect to bespeak gentleness.

Every goodbye has its own meaning. Your poem certainly exemplifies this. So when we say goodbye we should be careful as to what it means to the other person.

Fay, gentle good-byes are when the heart lies... I love your poem and the words "bleedingly raw"...On the news recently it has been decided that a heart really can break...I could have told them that a thousand poems ago... Dorothy
