Today
I am in a shaking rage
again this morning ,the city, the babe
the report from the room
waves of desperate ,hope less anger
crash over me
shaking
the very foundation of my soul
what is this disconnect
part of humanity?
that bleeds a cascading nightmare
of death and fear?
How is it world?
you can't feel this?
why don't you tremble?
you can not say you do not know
you talk about it day and night
I ask you all
and every single one
do you not under stand?
who is the mother of
the soldier who pulls the trigger
who is the soldier?
who are you?
the beating heart of war
is your
participation
the answer lies
with all of you
lighting and a great wind
one voice
As Dorothy noted, "Great versing" indeed. To flip this around for a moment though, there are times when soldiers have to earn their pay (which costs in blood) to stand up to tyrants and lunatics who would trample over people and nations without fear. Those, then, need to be taught fear and to be taught that there are consequences for their actions. Now, flipping it back around, I wholly agree with the sentiment, the abhorrence of violence and the evil stench that permeates the battlefields, urban or rural. Indeed, the answer, if there is one to be found, lies in the heart of each of us. A real thought-provoking, passionate read, sir, and I thank you for that.
