Ah, the patchwork quilt of means whereby we are inspired. Seeking inspiration, the classical station chancing to play an oboe concerto by Albinoni (Italian? composer/Italian sonnet!) alleging he was very fond of the instrument, I began. The afternoon being gently rainy as it fades subtly sans fanfare to evening, it played into the sestet. And I dearly wanted to use "bittersweet" in the title, which the last post using it forbade thereby, so hopefully "minstrel" will work. Or, you can take me to task over it. All in all, enjoy?
(sonnet # DLXII)
Since Albinoni loved thy voice as I
So dearly do, he wrote such pieces for
Thy 'dored tones accents as might fitly soar
In lilting melodies or dance half shy
Yet strong, and woo afresh heart's longing sigh;
Quite meet somehow to touch those chords that store
Exquisite grief or softly yearn to pour
Their subtle pinings forth, their tongue thereby.
While afternoon to ev'ning o'ercast wends,
Bare silhouettes against faint peach' romance
Beneath the rack's grey-navy's somber blends
As moisture tiptoes, trickling, thy descants
Enhance the dim subdued dull cast that lends
Its mournful hue to life, sweet pair by chance.

Makes sense- after all Yeats wrote major parts in plays intended for the love of his life to play.
