when darkness falls

when darkness falls my body shakes
waiting to fall over some old mistake.
memories flood the gates of my mind.
the good, the bad, the ugly, all at one time
weakness shows as a candle glows
I wrap myself in hope
I pray to the man up above I don't end up a dope.
I count sheep with no sleep and get up way too soon.
