Bedtime Story by Avarine

Stories

No warmth
Or love
No body to hold and embrace
All the years of my youth
Are not gone
But have instead
Fallen away
Until all that remained
Were stories

Ask me
And I will tell you
A story of my life
Stories filled with fables
Garnished and embellished
As only I can remember

None are true
They are only
What I chose to recall
Or at least
How I wish to remember

For the past
No longer holds reality
I have stripped away the pain
And the sadness
Filling the emptiness
With myths
Making me greater
Than I am
And appearing happier
Than I ever could have been

Today
What you see
Is what I have told you
And what
I have always wanted to be

Beautiful and thoughtful, like all your poems. I really love how your mind wanders...
