Eking Joy from Lack

After yesterday's clear today is overcast, but of course? And I felt too dull to write, yet I must. Catching sight of the gentle romance on its horizon I began, but la, writing today has been a chore! Enjoy?

(sonnet # DXLIX)

Dear romance of an o'ercast day where bare
Tree silhouettes stand silent in array
Against horizon's yellowed-white, the grey
Rack's navy hov'ring just above, aware
Of naught, their branches as mere tendrils wear
A delicate and lacy lightness, yea,
As fit to play Love's chords, thereby dismay
The half prevailing dullness, subtly fair.
While sunny open-faced clear skies imbue
Life eas'ly with their nigh ecstatic cheer,
Their golden blessing gilding all, their blue
A welcome scarcely noticed in the sheer
Abundance of warm Summer's pleasure; through
The scarceness, Winter's lack, each morsel's dear.

Here again, lovely imagery takes over and stays in mind's delight - so pleasing!

Ah, you do have a way with words Jen. I have yet to read anything of yours I did not thoroughly enjoy.

I don't know if I've ever seen an overcast day as romantic. I like the cool crisp of winter under stars. I like how you contrast the gray of winter to the pleasure of summer. Terrific color in your words here. Loved it.

this writing is a fine emotive picture, I would be a student in your class.
