The Acolytes of Fear

It doesn’t work.
It never has.
It never will.

There is no need to worry
About the advocates
Of freedom’s erosion.
They never succeed
But they keep trying.
They have no choice.
They don’t know how to do anything else.

Cowardice needs control over everything—
Because it has no control over itself.
Fear is its guiding light.
For that reason, it hates itself,
And when you hate yourself,
You have no other option
Than to hate everything and everyone
That doesn’t.

The mantra:
“If you have nothing to hide,
What need have you of privacy?”

No group needs to label themselves courageous.
No group needs ceremonies to congratulate their valor,
Except the acolytes of fear;
The high-priests of cowardice.
None are more aware of it than they.
They pretend to ignore it.
They pretend to believe they stand for something.
They pretend to believe they’re relevant.

It doesn’t work
It never has.
It never will.

HOw very very many have we all come into contact with and in the first few lines of conversation establish "The Big I am" routine..oh yes. They pretended to stand for something too, self importance I think it was. Thankyou for this. Green

Again such a beautiful and wonderful poetry of Chaos, my best friend in PF since my first coming here, he welcomed me so very friendly, thank you PF great FRIEND! From all the lines here, I love most these ones: “If you have nothing to hide, What need have you of privacy?” 100% agreed with you, your true friend in poetfreak here, Sylvia FC

The monsters under the bed have been seeping into the minds of adults and we hide from our own shadows? Fear indeed, "...has torment.." which this too beautifully expresses. That's the pleasure of reading your work, you write so well. I enjoyed this tribute to a horrendous reality.

Excellent, yet it is up to us to make your line remain true.Someone once wrote: " Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains." America is being turned into a police state like Britain.

I agree with this wholeheartedly my friend. Especially the lines: "No group needs to label themselves courageous. No group needs ceremonies to congratulate their valor/Except the acolytes of fear". The penchant to do this seems to be forever growing in this increasingly chaotic world of ours. Terrific Jesse. Intelligent and thought provoking.

How very true. Rules and regulations should be guide lines not commandments

Yes, we see what you speak so eloquently about occurring on a daily basis these days. Soon, we'll find ourselves living on our own Animal Farm as chattel for those who decide what is best for us.

Yet still, they offer either the red pill or the blue pill...

Wise words Jesse. It's strange though, I am daily worried about freedoms erosion and the lack of interaction. Yet I am also worried about the kwangos of morons who peddle resource and advocate solution. It's a fine balance walked by many. Thought provoking indeed.
