This Town

Their are a lot of scratches in the air
around this town
a lot of noses stuck up
in it

All to good to wave or say hello
they think I am the help
"How much do you charge to rake yards"
" ask my wife ,she is inside"

However
we did have a conversation
involving a water hose one day
good day
fun day
yup

Any how
I was washing
my old pick up truck
I take care of my things

when
this fancy dance
money pockets ,snob trot
sky scraper
came walking by

" helo"
I said
'beautiful day"
I said
"How are you doing today sir"

He wasn't
lip curled, in a real sneer
eye to eye
nasty look

the old warn ball cap
whiskers
arty looking house
old ford pickup truck

that old truck and I
did a hell of a lot of work together
building this house
been here thirty good years

,raised two boys up
good and strong
got a the wooded lot for the birds
all paid for, with hours in the ship yard

well , he turned his sky scraping
head back ahead
snorted a little snort
humph

I ,looked at the hose with the new nozzle
we live way down hill from the water tank
I looked at the back of his snotty head
yup, I soaked him

still smiling
