Waiting in silence by Fabio Sabatini

Spaces.

Spaces of silence
caught in the middle of talk
often float conversation
on waters of bliss.
A meaningful stillness shared
by two hearts
must not be hidden behind
chattering laughter.
By quiet the spirit conquers
the meaning of
contact and even over long
distance manifests
know-how in essence making.
Promising more
closeness the caught spaces
of hush perform
best as low pianissimo, so
meet me tonight
my love for in moments like
these we might
find softly played parts of
beckoning paradise
lying between those spaces
of pristine silence.

I stop reciting it aloud as I want to feel the spaces of silence.Amazing work Fay.I love it so much.

This beautifully seems to illustrate a different angle on that cliche "silence is golden" with delicious imagery. Initially I thought to disagree, hating those silences that hang dreadfully between the scrambles for what to say next. But this is a lovely reflection of the endearing silences which add rather than detract. I love it.

I love the intent here Fay. But I think you could have tightened the poem a bit more with rewording. But I have to tell you that this line is something to die for. I wish I'd written it: (By quiet the spirit conquers)*** that's what I think of that line. It makes the complete poem for me. Personally I'd make it the closure and move "pristine silence up into the poem. it put me on a journey./// In silence we listen; in listening we bloom. The bulb in the ground listens in quiet slumber for the softness of sunlight and rain to knock upon its door. A Poet friend...RH Peat

You know, Fay, I can appreciate the point you're making. Chatter, I think, is oftentimes a mere distraction from oneself and real communion, although it can serve as a useful ice-breaker where there's as yet no real bond between people. It has been said, astutely, that while a fool has to say something, a wise person has something to say. And the wisdom is made possible by embracing stillness and silence.

Sometimes spaces of silence are nice, and there is no need for words between lovers

I really enjoyed this Fay . I know those silences so well. There is sometimes a diversity between spontaneity and delay that gives the food for thought. Unfortunately my wife thinks I'm just being ignorant.

A cosmic, magical journey through the moments that mean so much yet are often ignored. There is a hidden depth to this piece Fay. The deeper the reader dives, the clearer the picture becomes. Excellent!
