This is simply wonderful Fay and has to be read by every adult who ever passed on their fears of creepy crawlies and their hang ups about life to children. Children are not naturally afraid of things. They are exploring a world that is all new to them. Yes, we need to keep them from harm, but not at the expense of their spirit. How can I not recommend something I so strongly believe in when it is expressed so very beautifully? Yor message applies to all, child and adult alike. For your child inside, Bravo Fay!!!! :) kath xxx

This is really interesting Fay as I listened to a talk about this yesterday. If children are stifled they find it difficult to come to terms with the real world when they leave home. Your last stanza says it all to watch growth light up the child inside. It was also pointed out it is up to the parent to use moderation as they see fit.

The freedom about which I write here Yacov is limited to allowing curiosity - I do agree with your point raised that freedom for total self-expression is a complex and questionable one. True Fay , the school & the teachers have a very responsible role to play in the 'formative years' in making them into good citizens ! But here I find , education is highly commercialised & they are being taught only about securing percentages for admission into professional institutions at a later age !! All teachers should read this poem ! -Raj

Oh dear friend , I have learned this on the hard way ,( sigh).. We, the parents, as well as the society , are pushing endless limits to our children .. indeed it is very true, the most happy child is the one who has freedom and smiles. Great poem, loved it, thank you Fay!
