war is hell

a small girl, searches
in the garbage
for food, to feed her
brother and her
no mother or father
she nust take care of
her younger brother
a dress tattered and no shoes
she walks through piles
of garbage hoping to find
something they can eat
she does not cry anymore
nothing changes by crying
SUDDENLY! the whistle of a bomb
she lays flat among the garbage
explosion! so near she cries out
cries out her brothers name
soldiers walking thru
see a tangled body of a girl
one, picks her up
out of the garbage
and lays her by the roadside
one tear on a closed eye

Wow, the realities of war are gut wrenching and these are the sorts of things you'd never see on the sanitized news that's shoved down our throats by the networks. Well said my friend. Your friend in words, Pete
