Did someone mention progress…? by carf

To Youth.

Not all sweet fruit had honied beginnings.
Tough roots hardened early produce soiled hearts.
But dignity grows when fed with forgiving.
Misdeeds delivered hurt less when pardoned.
Neglect comes twice-cursed when directed at youth.
Without love a harsh discipline breeds defeat.
Notions of straightening bends minds even more.
No flower carries fragrance after mis-use.
Left without nurture young limbs grow weaker.
Eyes narrow, more streetwise sly smiles than before.
Exiled from care, with no sense of belonging
Youth in retaliation will then stop being young.

I remember a friend of mine's wife telling me once. "Children need to be trained." "You don't train children," I answered. "You train animals. Children, you teach."

I'm not sure that pardons and forgiveness necessarily build dignity. They sometimes build the opposite and become pattern forming of one thinking they can get away with anything. Just simple parenting will do wonders but many don't invest their time in children. Mostly I agree with what you're saying. However, I think you can tweek this and make it much better by rethinking what "action" you want to call parents to. It's most effective to state the problem first and then to offer solutions rather than the way you have it here....Hope you don't mind me saying
