The wind and the tree.

Why do you blow?
asked the tree of the wind.
Why do you bluster and bellow?

I'm stripped of the leaves
that you stole months ago.
So surely it's time you turned mellow?

A breeze is a pleasure.
A gust, not too bad.
But all of this blowing?
What's made you so mad?


I'm driven by forces
beyond my control.
The world is in turmoil.
We both pay the toll.

Do you think that I like
to tear and to shred?
To howl and to harm
to earn my daily bread?

I was given a job
when the world was brand new.
I had no idea
what it would lead to...
