Enveloped in infinite space
the moon
adorns this afternoon sky.
Suspended on nothing the
half-round
ball shines coldly pale over
mid-winter's
fast dying day-time.
Dear planet of lesser light
we would miss
your face were you ever
persuaded
to take flight from our
disillusion in
nature's ability to efface
its awful abuse.
Stay to allay the fearful day
when dusk might
darken too soon and no light
filter thru' pollution.
Safe-guard our tremulous
state, delay
our expectation of it being
already
too late for reparation.
Keep shining despite our
foolish mistakes
delightful afternoon moon.
Excellent reflective write, Fay! So much mystery and majesty is reflected by the Moon!
