I don't understand if this is really real,
I can't see past my broken eye lashes,
Or these glistening tears.
Everything's so dark in this place,
A tiny crack on the only portion of the seen window,
All the exits to the outside are boarded and bricked.
Am I not supposed to see past this place?
I can only imagine what is through those doors.
There may be sun light shining through the tall grass,
The clouds may block out the sun shine for some time.
It seems to be a fully lit day,
Since I can only see what they have allowed me to see,
The dirt path leading up to the blocked off door seems to be covered in something.
I'm not sure what it is,
Everything's so dark,
I think it's night time now.
I hear rustling coming for the bushes outside,
I don't know whether or not I should be afraid.
There's knocking at the door,
And a man's voice saying something in a language I didn't understand.
I wanted so badly to call out to this man,
But I had tightened rope around my mouth and hands,
I was bound to a pole that stood in the back of the room,
Away from the door.
My tears dried into the ropes,
I'm not sure what exactly I was trying to do,
Break free maybe, not sure.
What ever I was doing,
It was no use,
I wasn't going to get that man's attention,
No matter how hard I tried.
The pounding gradually got louder,
The entire door shook,
The pounding began to sound like kicking,
The foreign man was kicking the door.
I was terrified.
Suddenly the noises stopped,
A barking came from behind me,
The little boarded up window with the crack at the corner had broken to bits and pieces,
A wet animal nose peaked underneath the nailed wood.
A man peered in with a flashlight that burned my eyes,
He asked something, in his language, I suppose,
The man kept asking the question.
Soon enough the question seemed clear enough,
"Are you alright?"
I whimpered beneath these ropes,
I couldn't move except to kick my feet.
I heard a loud crack and a grunt of pain,
But that didn't stop,
The foreign man was breaking the boards as quick as he could,
Finally the dog's head popped in,
It barked in a helping manner.
A few more flashlights shined in,
My eyes were closed because I didn't want them to burn again,
The dog came in and tugged on the ropes,
Loosening its grip,
I broke free and untied the ropes around my mouth.
The man asked again,
"Are you alright?"
I didn't know what to say,
He told me that if I could hear him,
To follow his voice and crawl through the space while the dog follows.
I did as I was told,
Everything was so beautiful.
The sky glimmered amongst the stars,
The trees danced in the breeze,
The man was accompanied by a group of men with badges and flashlights,
I was still terrified.
The dog licked the cut on my leg,
Which I had forgotten about completely.
It was oozing red stuff and all puffy,
The man said "Infected."
A man in a white robe came to my side,
Picked me up and carried my to the truck,
After a few minutes of trying to regain my focus,
I noticed that he was a doctor,
He would help me,
At least I'd hope so.
The dog jumped into the truck, beside me,
It licked my face then my leg,
For some reason, I felt as though it was trying to help me,
That it was trying to tell me something,
Maybe "It was going to be fine now. You're safe."
I closed my eye lids,
Breaking a few of my dried up eye lashes,
As I drifted into a replayed nightmare.
