This very moment I do crave
(beware I do not misbehave),
to sit and watch a film with you
and keep your hands from turning blue.
I stopped to check and there he lay
with spouse nearby, dark stole the day.
Yolanda's spirit stabbed me deep,
Good night I say, please let me sleep.
Note:
Several readers have written to ask about
the meaning of this poem.
The first part refers to my longing to, once again watch
a movie with the ONE who makes it all beautiful and gives the world a lovely glow.
The second part of it refers to a beautiful galah
who, in the company of his/her spouse, flew into my windscreen.
I stopped and watched the survivor grieve, sitting there, hissing at me a bit but
essentially without fear of me, traffic or the Devil himself.
It was very sad and sooo reminiscent of my experience
with Yolanda the goose which I wrote down in my poem Yolanda.
Where were you, God?
After several readings I must honestly adnit that I am clueless. Your friend in words, Pete
