as time goes by...

as time goes by
day after day,
the old become older
and each become lost,
like the leaves in autumn
or flowers in a frost
like the cry of a whip-or-will
so forlorn and lost.

but live for the present
and future to come
and not for the past
where memories are from.

The words of a wise sage Carol. The past is for memories, the future is for creating them. I loved the imagery in the middle of the first verse.

Never truer than in these dodgy days. Validity is found in the here and now.
