God Answered My Prayers

As my eye hung on the jagged edge of the rock, my mind slowly became at peace. It was a decision of do I move and lose my eye or do I fall and surely die.

Climbing Mount Ore seemed to be the only logical thing to do on a beautiful spring morning in the mountain ranges of China. It was a typical day in my life as an engineer and it was my day off. As the blood gushed down my face, I momentarally wondered how I had gotten myself in this predicament. I had logged in 1000's of hours of rock and fountain climbing. As I moved in and out of consciousness, I realizsd I would have to leave my eye on the jagged rock my head landed on as I slipped on the last step I took and now the rock was totally into my eye socket. I was barely on a rock overtaking the mountain crest and would fall to my death very quickly if I didn't move fast, but I couldn't help but think about only living with one eye. I disengaged my head from the jagged rock and felt a rush of warm blood run down my face. I managed to slow the bleeding as I climbed down the mountain after praying to God and asking him to save my life. I was in and out of consciousness but managed to make it down the mountain where I was rescued by paramedics who raced me to the nearest hospital.

The eye was gone and all the bones were crushed to my left eye. In all, I had 11 surgeries on my eye, and today I'm the proud owner of an artificial eye. I gave up climbing and thank God for my life every day. I still live and work in China.
