In my dreams

In my dreams
I fight
and die for you
I let you see me
try for you
In my dreams
I always
rescue you
no matter what the odds
I see it through

When I close my eyes
you take my hand
and lead me
to the Promised Land
where lovers go
to be alone
in caravans
of Kodachrome
sweetly searching
the great unknown
of entwining limbs
and sated groan

but daylight breaks
and here I am
a black sheep or
the sacrificial lamb
of serendipity
as reality
crushes the fantasy

Behind my still closed eyes
I see you smile sardonically
and hear you whisper…

In your dreams
