Tears for the Italian National Football Team 2010 (Lacrime per la Nazionale di Calcio Italiana 2010) by Luigi FDV

Teardrops

a teardrop
slipped into her tea cup
she just swallowed the pain

a teardrop
grazed the rose she carried
she blocked it but in vain

a teardrop
fell smudging her letter
she could not stop the stain

a teardrop
glistened on her mirror
she let more fall like rain...

How many tears must flow to get the pain out in the open so that it can be properly examined for its worth? Your friend in words, Pete

I love the photograph, and you words describe the pain, but sometimes tears are for happy reasons, but they help to relieve the pain as well.

Wow. Poignant and so bittersweet, yet too beautifully expressed! Wonderful imagery and lovely end-rhyming linking each stanza in the saga of grief that finally overflowed its banks. Excellent, to say the least.

For all we do to avoid it, it's a hollow life that never felt pain's pangs. Great work.

A stunning write, dearest Sandra. Perfection in each and every liquid syllable, which flows effortlessly and satin smooth from your skilled pen. A very poignant write, so beautifully expressed. The imagery is painted so vividly, as I read I could see each event unfold before my eyes. Perfect scansion, rhythm and rhyme throughout the poem. I have to agree with Lynda, Sandra - this poem is your finest write, it is simply superb! Thank you for sharing, Sandra. Blessings & Love......
