Transatlantic Waves

If I Listen, I can hear your thoughts
in the wind
Reaching out to me across these separating miles
Finding a welcome home in these isolated Isles
Inspiring me, holding my attention,
closely pinned
Memories of conversations between minds
linger
Ethereal dance of matched intelligence,
so vivid
It tattoo's upon tender skin a raised scar so livid
You are my only joy,
my only pleasure bringer
I look out across this stretch of water
before me
Imagining what life would be like
without you
And this mantel of loneliness begins to accrue
My heart is lost in the waves
of a gunmetal sea
Drowning in need for a wandering
conversation
With my transatlantic companion
and temptation

wistful and evocative. Love the gunmetal sea. Good luck with a long distance relationship.

The terrible t's - transatlantic companions and that ne'er do well -temptation..oh what a marriage! Having said that..maybe the guns in the sea would would shoot 'em down afore misfortune occured? Great piece of work this DW.

I just adore this poem. It reads like a poetic, little slice of my life that I can wholly relate to... and, guess what? I crossed that 'gunmetal sea', and I'm smiling. A wonderful poem! :)
