Her Eyes

As she smiles, you say,
The sun comes out of hiding and is
Outshone by her radiance.
But look into her eyes, fathoms deep,
And see
Answers and mysteries
Truth and lies
Joy and anger
Strength and sadness
Light and dark
Love and pain
The latter threaten to overcome her
And her strength is wavering
But not a tear is shed.
Instead, she smiles.

interesting cameo of the ambivalence within, the contrasts... and the brave smile that seems to hold it all together
