New Year resolution
My very first New Year resolve:
Shall retire early at night
Latest by 10 O clock.
Slip into bed, switch off lights.
Say my prayers to the Lord.
Pull up my quilt, close my eyes.
My mind goes wandering about.
Grandfather clock strikes, it’s midnight.
Then it’s quite, no eerie sound.
Counting sheep, making up rhymes!
Drift into sleep, dreams abound.
Wake up, can’t tell day or night.
No bird flutter or a chirpy call.
It’s freezing, pull up my tights.
Wear my slippers, walk to the hall.
Then I have a change of mind,
While pottering about the house;
Early to bed early to rise, suits summertime!
As the kettle makes a hissing sound
I yawn, missing pink dawn light.
Go back to bed, laughing out loud.
New Year resolve goes for a toss, I smile.
I’ll rather wake with the birds' song
And Sun shining, with warmth in it's eyes.
Winter nights are so cold and long,
I really like to wake in broad day light!
Now there is no one to call me lazy or chide
For Mom has been gone a long long time!
Winter is hard to rise early but is easy on the body when you have a doggy to walk, like your new year resolution, witty ...regards
