One sonnet was too short to elaborate both the day outside as well as the delightful memories that made the grey less visible, the key of hope that made it somehow more bearable, hence this second continuing the thought, yet not a linked sonnet. The reference to Favonius is thanks to reading Milton a week ago.
(sonnet # CCCCXXVIII)
While Jan'ry's bitter Winter grey and chill
Forbid all trespassers from vent'ring through
Its grim domains, Spring's mem'ry...with soft blue
Skies blessing and Favonius' grace, the trill
And warble of romancing plays that fill
Each warming day as chartreuse' mild shades woo
In garbing barreness, where greens renew
Life's lease and fragrance scents the breeze, Love's quill
Shall now retrace: as daffodils sweet gold
Profusion of frilled lace, forsythia's cheer
In yellow daintiness, pink blossoms' bold
Assults on Zephyr's whispers ever dear,
Where purple lilacs gently sway...unfold
Those treasures just for briefest taste, hope's sphere.
