Words are extremely potent as in the Boyzone song "Words," while the Word of God says death and life are in the power of the tongue, hence writing this seemed only too perfect. And yet finishing it, I am wondering whether I credited words with too much power?
(sonnet # CCCCXV)
With words you make me miniscule: I shrink
Down low in fear and dread, yea hide my face
Away, lest shame's grim rouge paint my disgrace
Abroad for all to witness, as I drink
The bitter draught of scorn and spite. I blink
Back tears for private, gentler moment's grace,
When all alone shall temper that flow, space
Enow for such reflections, as I sink.
Again, with words you build me up to fly
Above the ugly lies, the strife that tears
Our little selves and lives; you buoy me by
Such hope and cheer, by love and truth, 'til cares
Seem lighter and I've strength to walk. Oh aye.
Just words. Mere syllables drive our affairs?
