A Philosophy Of Sorts

I am posting this in response to Philip's acrostic: Intellect is the gift of the human race. Some of the Greeks, to whom we all so much, are included here. Be sure to read his poem. I will include it in my recommended list.

We can choose to start out with God, the 1 God (which the Greek philosopher Xenophanes already professed to believe in while living in the third century before our Christian age of infinity) who created the world and this humanity in which we exist one and all because I believe and hold these truths to be self evident that we are all one and the same yet different each unique in his or her own way not quite ever prepared to deal with the 2 forces of good and evil especially when evil seems always to prevail in matters no matter how many of us choose to do good and dwell in the community of the 3 (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) not excluding the possibility of the 3 being She, as some refer to Mother Nature who has also been worshiped from the beginning of our eternity and in whom are contained the 4 basic elements of air, water, fire and earth (all combined in various proportions to form all objects according to Empedocles another Greek philosopher) without which we would surely die; otherwise, why are we so thrilled to find water on another planet no matter what it’s form (urged on by Democritus and Leucippus depending upon which one you choose who said in 400 BC that our world was just one of many) unless we have reasons here no longer to abide as our 5 senses or 6 to include ESP depending upon your mode of survival as we are constantly assaulted with pollution covering the 6 continents depending upon your point of view and the 7 seas which when I was a boy the sailors sailed which are becoming more turbulent and troublesome with constant wars and no solutions that will ever please everybody especially those who want more power in our name they say while representing the corporations seeking more land and higher profits of which I could name 8 or 9 and many more but not 10 because that is the perfect number and we know that here in this temporary abiding place we will never find anything perfect under the sun (even if Pythagorus living in 500 BC taught that everything could be explained by numbers and found out that by arranging four rows of dots, each row containing one dot more than the preceding row and stacked on top of each other would make an equilateral triangle and equal the sum of 10 but of course you could look at this geometric form and conclude that there is only 1 or even 3 depending upon your interpretation) which might prompt us to revert back to the times of Paradise the Eden of us all saying we are all children of the same 2 parents Adam and Eve who were happy in community with the 1 God or 3 depending upon your believing until they ate of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil and came to be like God knowing good and evil not dying but continuing to live and eventually begetting Abel and Cain who killed his brother and from whom we must all be descended unless Adam and Eve had other kids which the Bible doesn’t mention and so what should we believe except the apple which explains this whole mess and how there came to be you and me and we.

Karin, I really did not intend that this be understood but wanted to present a way of enjoying the simple exercise of reading and realizing that a lot of things we might think are new have been around for a long time. I deliberately made this one sentence being influenced by an author I had just finished reading.

From Karin Anderson: Ben, I really enjoyed your Philosophy of Sorts and can relate to a lot of it. You have a wealth of information, but too much to comprehend. Thank you for including it all~

Philip, if you're among the gods, you should be in good company. I'm afraid that by 2112 our musings will no longer be accessible except by use of antique instruments, which will probably be found only in museums. However, your gods might not let that happen. Your intellect is better than mine, or, maybe I should use brain in place of intellect. I'm finding out that there is a difference. My brain is now being aided by notes and reviews of sources, which I sometimes have troube remembering where they are. We need to find new paths to travel with the turning of a new calendar.

Well Ben ... How flattered I feel to have sparked off such an able debate....They may find our musings on some hard drive someday in the year 2112 and make all PoetFreaks to be Gods.... Stranger things have happened. I have far to go in this subject...although my Intellect is daily fading ....( Poor old chap) ...Not Waving but drowning in the Gods I keep discovering. Be inspired Ben ...I know I am . Kind Regards. Thanks for your comments. Philip
